SO... What has happened (is happening..) with the roster..?? The very first thing to notice is the Panthers are down one player, now sitting at 89. Panthers CB, Rashawn Melvin, has officially retired (apparently..). That leaves a vacant spot.

Scott Fitterer has mentioned a couple of times wanting to bring in some more competition for the D-Line. His latest press conference at Wofford included a few hints about potential future moves. He mentioned wanting a 'big guy' and another 'pass rusher'. Whether both of those attributes can be had in ONE player, or would require TWO additions to the roster is yet to be determined.  In any event, Melvin's retirement opens up one spot. A second addition would require 'firing' someone. Who would "leave"..??? Unknown..

After Fitterer mentioned "looking" for D-Linemen, reports started to indicate possible interests. Fitterer mentioned yesterday that he had made some "calls". A couple of those guys have previously been here to Carolina for 'interviews' and possibly 'physical exams'. The two most frequently mentioned are Carlos Dunlap...&...Danny Shelton. Both of these guys have made "visits" here. I would expect something to happen soon (If it's going to happen at all..).

PANTHERS WIRE:  Panthers Interested in D-Linemen
