The TALK is heating up.
Everywhere you look (read..) procrastinators (Talking Heads..) are spouting a bunch of drivel about what exactly the Panthers are going to do on Day 1 of the Draft. We are supposed to believe that these incompetent idiots have their fingers on the "pulse" of what the Panthers hierarchy is thinking. Which of course is silly. Mainly because I don't believe for a second that the Panthers KNOW what they're going to do---YET.
Anyway... The latest 'insiders viewpoint' has "the pick" switching from Stroud back toward Young with Richardson gaining ground quickly. In a two-horse race, the numbers very slightly favor Young over Stroud at 51--49. If you add in the remaining two competitors and make it a four-horse race, it becomes a very muddy question indeed. Stroud and Young are a dead-heat, with Richardson holding as much as 20 % of the number--- depending on to whom you listen.
So, what does this mean.?? Well, frankly, not much. Because, as I mentioned, the Panthers WILL proceed with a "consensus" pick (gosh, I HOPE they do..), and I believe they have not yet arrived at a consensus. And it may not happen until they're on the clock on the 27th.
I still believe that CJ Stroud should/will be the pick. IF NOT..... then I think Richardson has a good shot at it. With this coaching staff, and the support we will have around the position, Richardson would have everything he needs to succeed quickly. I think his trajectory would be similar to Cam's, although hopefully with more wins. If you remember back in 2011..... Newton won the OROY, threw for 4000+, but only won six (6) games, and had 17 INTs. Richardson has more speed, and a better arm (strength).
