i still don't have all the 'wrinkles' ironed out from yesterday. Or, maybe i should say, I don't know WTH happened yesterday (I mean "exactly" -- you know..).
My thoughts after trying to understand it all.. (and many mucho 'THANK YOUs' to LP and Josh and BCF for contributing to my 'clarity'), is as follows. We traded back from #39 to #52 (??) and gained a 2nd rounder for next year along with #155. So we gave up 12 draft positions and picked up a 5th rounder AND a 2nd next year. Good Trade.!! We will need that pick next year. BUT... then we traded back UP again to #46 and gave them back (except for 2nd next year), plus we threw in #142. So we gave back #52, #155, and #142 to move UP 6 spots..??? This one is STRANGE. Now understand, I like the pick at #46. Brooks is a dynamic RB. I am glad we have him. But a high 2nd Rd.?? Surely, he would have been there at #52 (???). So the #1 RB in the draft comes home to Carolina with a surgically repaired knee (ACL) that happened just six months ago. A RB with a surgical knee.?? --Hmmm -- Sure glad we have Chuba Hubbard under contract.
So then --- what happened.?? At this point we've traded out of #33, #39, #141, and #142. We should still have #65, #101, #200 and #240. I know we drafted LB Trevin Wallace at #72 (I'm not all-in on Wallace - have to wait and see..) ...... So what happened to #65.?? Since #72 belonged to the Jets, and LPs crib sheet shows us getting it from them, did we trade #65 to NYJ.?? I guess we did.?? Because LPs sheet shows us with #157 as well. SO... we traded #65 to the Jets for #72 and #157. Right.??? Was there any other 'weirdness' that went on while I was buying my puppy something to eat and some veggies and "stuff" for me.??
So that means we are left with #101 and #157 to make a little more headway today. I know we have #200 and #240 also....but "hit rate" on picks that late is so low as to be almost meaningless. We can always hope, but 7th rounders are basically "throw-aways" and #200 is not much better. (AFAIC).
OKAY.... So far we have:
Legette at #32
Brooks at #46
Wallace at #72
2nd rounder in 2025
I'm liking it so far, with some reservations. #101 and #157 could make or break this draft. If I've missed anything or got anything 'balled up' please let me know.!!
