I don't disagree. There's a lot of logic there. The problem with those kind of 'numbers' is they are not really "objective". Objective stats should be 'measurable' and 'repeatable'. IOW... If we give Young "credit" for game winning drives, then should we not subtract for game winning "failures.?? When we manage to score on a long Offensive possession, do we give Young credit for the drive when the ball moved on the back of Hubbard.?? Young gets "credit" for a nice pass completion when the entire "credit" should go to Thielen for a "once in a season" catch. Young gets the credit, but the ball was VERY poorly thrown and without Thielen's magic fingers, there would be no catch.
Understand, I AGREE with you on a lot of it. There should be an accounting. Young should definitely get credit for HIS play. Credit for the things HE does. But, we need to stay objective and give credit to the players who are making the plays. It would be different if Young was playing like Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes or Josh Allen. But he's not. YES, he is definitely doing better. But he's a LONG way from being a "franchise" QB. Our Panthers are playing good football, not because of Bryce Young, but rather because of solid TEAM play.
At least that's the way I see it.
