Positive comments on Bryce by an Athletics writer:
Anyone ready to revisit that Bryce Young–C.J. Stroud debate yet?
And it wasn’t even an argument last year, as everyone was thrashing Young, the No. 1 draft pick, while the No. 2 pick Stroud had a great rookie season for the Houston Texans. Young then got benched by the Carolina Panthers for old man Andy Dalton in September but got his job back when Dalton was in a car accident.
And Young has risen out of the ashes, playing a loose, fun style and almost beating the mighty Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles the last three weeks. If not for an ugly drop by Xavier Legette, Young would be the talk of the league for a 98-yard drive (without timeouts) to beat the Eagles at the buzzer last Sunday.
As it is, the Panthers have covered five straight games (2-3 overall) and, for the first time in two years, are favored in Sunday’s home game against the Dallas Cowboys.
We will be on them again, and while we were officially 4-1 in our best bets last week, many of you probably went 5-0 or 4-0-1. We had the Miami Dolphins -6.5 against the New York Jets, but it was 6 by Friday and 5.5 by Saturday. And they won by 6.
Like Young, we are back, footloose and fancy-free right now.
