Teams at the top are usually QB needy so a couple of QB's, not the best players are going way too early. I agree there is a lot of other talent out there. Panthers should be able to get a very good player...a starter at 8.
AGREED...
IF we stay at #8. I would probably (??) prefer a trade back to around 15-18 if there is a willing trade partner. Still get a solid 1st rounder and an additional 2nd (maybe--probably.??).
For what it's worth (and that isn't much lol), I don't see any real reason to move up in the draft from #8. It might make more sense to move back a few positions and grab some extra draft picks.
Look what we got in Luke Kuechly at #9, and both Christian McCaffrey and Jaycee Horn at #8.
Then again, we picked up Jonathan Stewart at #13, Jon Beason at #25, Chris Gamble and DeAngelo Williams at #28, and Thomas Davis at #14.
I don't see any glaring need in picks 1-7 that would warrant what we would have to give away to much up that many spots but moving back might be a viable option.
And remember, we got Amare' Barno in the 6th Round (and he's still here), Brady Christianson and Tommy Tremble in the 3rd Round, and Chuba Hubbard in the 4th Round.
It's hard to evaluate - and I mean truly evaluate - draft talent until after they have played in the NFL on Sundays. For example, we drafted Ickey Ekwonu at #6, and it honestly took him a couple of years to develop, and sometimes I wonder about that.
