Due to an almost "foul-up" by Rookie Princely Umanmielen who hit Bryce Young a little too hard.

Coach Canales liked what he saw up to the point where Princely hit Bryce's arm, causing the ball to come out. Glad it turned out okay, but it gives some perspective on what to expect from Princely this season.
It also gave Coach Canales an opportunity to let the Rookies (and everyone else) know that we don't hurt our own teammates.

Carolina Panthers rookie Princely Umanmielen made a strong first impression in the opening outing of training camp on Wednesday. In fact, it may have been a little too strong.
This morning's practice session was called to an end after the 23-year-old outside linebacker caused a strip-sack of quarterback Bryce Young. And while Umanmielen did what the organization drafted him to do right off the bat, the play was a tad physical for head coach Dave Canales' liking.
"A really close one," Canales told reporters of the sack, which saw the third-round pick make contact with Young. "A great rush. Exactly why he's here—is to be able to affect the passer. Just came really tight around that corner and kinda nicked Bryce on the arm right there and the ball comes out and that's really not what we wanna see. I wanna see that first part of it, though, just the great bend and flexibility and power that he has in his rushes."
That flexibility and power showed at the collegiate level, where Umanmielen recorded 25.5 sacks and four forced fumbles over five years. The 2024 campaign saw him notch 10.5 sacks for Ole Miss en route to a first-team All-SEC selection.
So while he'll likely be encouraged to break the Panthers' pockets, in a monetary sense, breaking their quarterback is completely off limits.
