CB News--- An APPLE a day..!! Eli Apple to be a Panther

News on the Defensive side.  The Panthers have agreed to terms with Eli Apple. A four year veteran, Apple is now 25 Y.O. A former first round pick from the Giants, he spent the last couple of years with the Saints where he started 25 games.  Apple is 'in line' to start across from Donte Jackson ---(maybe..???).

He threatened to leave the team facility after players and coaches called out his effort in a film session, was caught tweeting while on the sideline during a game, and eventually caused enough distraction and trouble in the locker room that teammate Landon Collins called him a "cancer."

Apparently, the one and only Eli Apple.

Apparently the deal with the Raiders fell through...... I hadn't heard about his 'problems' till now. You always wonder about these stories. A simple personality conflict can generate a lot of "sour grapes" type of commentary. Of course it's always possible that he could be a rabble-rouser type of guy. Sure hope not.!!  Anyway, he is a starting caliber CB and will make our D a lot more solid. Gonna be a lot tougher to go deep against him and Jackson.

If it turns out to be a "bad" pick-up, then we're not really hurt. Supposed to be a one (1) year "prove-it" contract.  Fingers crossed.!

He is a talented guy for sure, and "can" be an awesome pickup for this team.  The problem is in his attitude, I think.  And, he was the most penalized player for the Saints in 2019. 

I'm willing to see what he's got, but I hope he uses this year to prove his mettle.

By the way, with Eli Apple and Dante Jackson, we can call our secondary "Apple-Jacks" lol
