Panthers Inactives on TNF: A.J. Bouye, Yetur Gross-Matos won't play at Texans

HOUSTON — The Panthers knew that defensive end Yetur Gross-Matos was going to be out tonight, because of an ankle injury.

The rest of the inactive list brought at least one mild surprise.

Cornerback A.J. Bouye is inactive for tonight's game against the Texans.

He returned from a suspension which cost him the first two weeks, and a short-week game made it a tough task to get ready.

They also deactivated wide receiver Shi Smith, linebacker Clay Johnston, defensive tackle Phil Hoskins, and offensive linemen Michael Jordan and Deonte Brown.

With Bouye down, the Panthers will rely more on veteran cornerback Rashaan Melvin, who was elevated from the practice squad.

Yeah, I expected Bouye to play. Sure hope he can play going forward. Looks like we're without Horn for a while. That's gonna hurt. Not as bad as CMC but still . . .

Same thoughts. Hope aj can go.

What I want to know is this; WHY is Bouye NOT ready to play? It isn't like he is coming off an injury. He was suspended the first two games. He is a professional football player. He should ALWAYS be ready. I don't know a lot about him, but watching his interview earlier this week, he did not seem very confident, and actually sounded a bit confused as to why he was even here.

Sorry 007, (boye) he had a pulled muscle or something in camp. Missed weeks training. Had 1 practice this week. I’m betting he’s active this week. But healthy? D Jax, chin, Franklin, Melvin, chandler, sto, Taylor better step up. Luvu at inside the box blitzer is fun. So many fun combos on d. All the line n lbs shaq, luvu, reddick, n carter.
