.... and as we all know, this roster is subject to change, particularly with two more spots to fill.

Panthers add 14 to practice squad

CHARLOTTE — The Panthers brought back a number of familiar faces on Wednesday, establishing their practice squad with 14 players.

All 14 of those players were with them in camp here and were part of Tuesday's initial cuts.

That group includes veteran safety Juston Burris, who was a starter here last season.

The full list of players signed Wednesday includes:

— S Juston Burris

— S Kenny Robinson

— CB Madre Harper

— DE Austin Larkin

— C Sam Tecklenburg

— TE Colin Thompson

— TE Josh Babicz

— OL Deonte Brown

— CB Tae Hayes

— WR Ra'Shaun Henry

— DE Drew Jordan

— RB John Lovett

— LB Arron Mosby

— WR Derek Wright

That leaves two more spots on the practice squad to fill.

And I have to add, I wasn't aware that some of these players were Practice Squad eligible Huh

I mean, Justin Burris has seven years in the NFL.

At any rate, this looks as talented a Practice Squad that I believe we've ever had.....

You and me both. The practice squad rules for eligibility escape me. And I’m afraid I’ll never WANT to understand them.!! That’s pretty sad, isn’t it…  Fbcry

Oh well…. “C’est la vie”

Here you go in simple terms. One has to love the last bullet point.

Eligibility
The league in 2020 also adjusted the rules for who can be on the practice squad. Those adjustments saw some updates this year. The practice squad may have:

Players with no NFL experience (zero accrued seasons)
Players who were active for fewer than nine games during their only accrued season
Up to ten players may have no more than two accrued seasons
Up to six players may be signed without any limitation on earned seasons
-Note: The limit of 10 players with more than two accrued seasons includes the six players with no limits on the number of accrued seasons.

I think the PS is now FULL...

With the signing of QB Jacob Eason, that left one spot open. I now understand that we have brought back WR  CJ Saunders. He has been listed on the Panthers "Transactions" list along with Eason.

Wouldn't be surprised to see some more moves being made over the next week or so. There will be some fine-tuning of the roster and the Practice Squad for a little while yet.  The PS will be in a state of 'flux' the whole season...

CJ Saunders is a guy that I have been pulling for. The kids does it all. Great special teamer, he can run routes, he's just someone you want to see have success.

Yes, I too want to see successful players on the PS... as well as the 53 of course.!!  CJ Saunders has had some success early this year, then he was cut...not because of lack of skill so much, but more because there was so MUCH competition.  We'll now have a chance to see him develop a little more before he is called on as "next man up".   AS long as some other team doesn't come along and 'poach' him from our PS.

QB Jacob Eason is an interesting quandary to me. He is a truly 'built' QB as far as size is concerned. He's been around for parts of three years now, so you have to wonder if he is lacking some tangible quality as a QB, OR, has he just not been given the necessary opportunity to develop.???  BIG healthy guy with a strong arm; no reason he isn't playing somewhere as a backup (at least..?).  He will be worth watching.....

BREAKING NEWS---PRACTICE SQUAD...

As of today, Safety Kenny Robinson has been released from the Practice Squad.  After his two "dust-ups" in New England, Robinson was cut in the major moves toward the 53 roster. He was then brought back as a member of the Practice Squad when it was formed. Today, his tenure with the Panthers has (apparently..) come to an end.  No word on if the previous actions in NE had any bearing on this move, but one has to wonder...???

This leaves the Panthers with 15 players on their PS as of this date. That leaves open the possible movement of a player from the active 53 to the PS... OR, a possible addition to the PS from another source.

More to follow...

I know that's what everyone says but I'm pretty sure they are all guessing.  My guess is: If that was the issue, they'd have never brought him back to the PS in the first place.
