This kid can catch, too! Wonder why he wasn't drafted, but in a draft deep in running backs.....
Welcome to the Carolina Panthers!
And yeah, those highlights above were in College, but he appears to do the same things in the NFL.
Here are highlights from his 2022 Preseason with the Bills:
He's quick, but not particularly strong. Has a nice "spin" move carrying the ball and is somewhat shifty. Looks like he goes down pretty easy, and not much yardage past first contact. I don't think he has a lot of real "speed", but he is quick. He pretty much looks like what he is..... a small, quick RB with good hands.
Not sure why we need him though...????? Maybe because Hubbard is 'underperforming'..??
BTW...
Here is the "official" announcement from the Panthers.
PANTHERS.COM: Panthers Sign RB Raheem Blackshear From Bills PS
This signing brings the Panthers active roster back to 53. Since Blackshear was signed from another team's Practice Squad, League rules say that he MUST be counted on the new team's active 53 roster for a minimum of three weeks. Players signed like this are guaranteed a minimum of three weeks pay at the active roster minimum even if they are released. They are also counted as on the roster for three weeks even if released sooner.

I have said it before, but I'll say it again, I've been underwhelmed by Chubba Hubbard so far. Not knocking the kid, but I had such high expectations.

Yeah…. Have to agree. Hubbard hasn’t shown much.
Running or returning or catching passes.

Hilarious…
So what you’re saying is he’s consistent(ly) weak @ running, returning, catching….
Yes, that's what I'm saying because, unfortunately, that's how it has looked so far this season and preseason.
I don't have any problem with him being here. It just seems to me that he should be down the depth chart on each of these duties a bit longer. (And for some reason, it almost looks like he is taking a step backwards this year. Maybe trying to bite off too many jobs?)

Agreed.....
His problem is directly related to Rhule's problems. Rhule grabbed him initially because he "knew" him and he was a favorite of the family (particularly Rhule's wife..) who told Rhule '...you'd better get Chuba" or words to that effect. I know, realistically, his wife did not mandate his decision (probably..??). Still it's just another example of the nepotism that is running rampant within the roster. And some poor choices are the result. Hubbard has been surprisingly INeffective this year. So, regressing, 'step backwards' = yes.
