Keep your shirts on lol. It's SAM DARNOLD.
Panthers Have Had 'Preliminary Discussions' With 1 Veteran Quarterback (msn.com)
According to ESPN's David Newton, the Panthers have already had preliminary discussions with representatives of Sam Darnold.
Newton added that Carolina is focused on signing a veteran quarterback on a mid-level salary. Carr doesn't exactly check off that box since he's reportedly seeking a contract that'll pay him $35 million per year.
If the Panthers want to draft a quarterback and add a veteran to their depth chart, Darnold makes a lot of sense.

While the Panthers are meeting with Derek Carr in Indianapolis, their focus is more on mid-level (salary-wise) veteran quarterbacks. They already have had preliminary discussions with representatives of Sam Darnold, per sources. Darnold makes sense if they plan to draft a QB
Darnold appeared in six games for the Panthers this past season, completing 58.6 percent of his passes for 1,143 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. The team went 4-2 in his six starts.
Although the Panthers already had preliminary discussions with Darnold, their front office is set to meet with Carr at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.
The Panthers are trying to find the right quarterback to pair with new head coach Frank Reich.
