So interesting to read so many of the things we might not think about! Unfortunately for Austin and for us I wouldn’t expect him back until mid season and possibly he could miss the whole year. I want him to return to 100% on and off the field.

You're right... This is a great article. Tells a lot about the "process" of recovery from an ACL injury. Interesting stuff.   I remember the first installment of this "series".  If you haven't read it, you should (read them in order..).  I'll go find it and post the link so you can read it first.

Here are the links to both articles in the series in order...

I agree about not expecting him back by the start of the regular season, and would honestly think he would miss most of, if not all, of the upcoming season. That's a lot of weight to put on a surgically repaired knee, and a lot of strain trying to keep Defensive Linemen out of the backfield.

Luckily, most linemen don't get this type of injury too often.  These are massive, strong, heavy, brutish guys. They aren't expected to move, jump, and cut like smaller, quicker position players. More sprains, strains, twists, impact injuries. All of which are certainly bad enough for a BIG guy, But thankfully, severe ligament tears are more the province of RBs, WRs, & DBs or LBs.

So, as Bond, James Bond (007) mentioned, when one of these injuries DOES occur, the repair is tougher and rehab will definitely be longer.  I really want this guy back, but I too believe it will be around week 10 earliest (probably) before he gets back on the field. And YES, it MIGHT take the whole season.
