Huh
?????? ---- Huh.??

170 M over 5 yrs is not 43 M per year....  More like  34 M per year.

Which is still WAY too much (In My Not So Humble Opinion..).  The real question here would be -- How much of that money is fully guaranteed.???

LARGE contracts and LONG contracts mean nothing if the money is not guaranteed or if there are "escape" clauses built into the contract for either party. Any team that agrees to 4-5 year guaranteed money contracts is out of their ever-lovin mind. (Once Again -- IMHO).

4-5 year contracts -- YES. Large $$ contracts -- YES (maybe.??).  As long as the contract is tied to performance-based objectives.

Edited it. I transposed the #’s. Think 120 mil guaranteed for Bosa. What we give Burns? I really have no clue, thinking something a lil less n shorter.

Short of being able to push a fire truck to Maui, I don't think anyone is worth $170M for five years. Just saying......

EXACTLY.....

Still, it's not really a 'thing'. If he is getting $120 M (guaranteed) over 5 years, that's way too much (IMHO). That would amount to $24 M per year (guaranteed).  Who wants to bet that he is still playing (UNhurt) and at the same level five years from now.????  Definitely NOT me.  I don't wish bad luck on any player. --- But, it's NOT a safe bet.

I would say that around $20 M per year is about maximum.  AND, I don't believe I would guarantee it for 5 years either.!!!!!  I would say 3 years then 2 additional years IF (and only IF) certain performance standards are met.  OR, make it a "graduated" contract.  $20 M in years 1 & 2; then $23 M in year 3; $24 M in year 4; and $25 M in year 5. ALL dependent on hitting performance objectives.

What kind of "performance objectives".??  Glad you asked.  Maybe *** Play 70% of Defensive snaps;  ***60 total tackles (solo + assisted);  ***10 sacks;  ***xxx number of QB 'hurries' or 'pressures'; ***15 TFL;  ***xxx Passes Defensed;  ----  Those kind of things.

OR alternatively,  A LOWER base salary with guaranteed "bonuses" for certain levels of performance.

Lots of ways to do it.  One thing for certain --- NO Golden Parachutes. NO rewards for "sitting out". No play = No pay.  No sitting around BS-ing. No 'giving up', 'dogging it', lack of effort.  If you want to be "appreciated" and "PAID", then you have to PERFORM.

Pretty Simple .....

It was reported that he was back "at" practice in pads but did not practice. He is still remaining mum on rather he will play or not against the Falcons.

He’s there coaching. He’s been there. Bosa was selfish. I think Burns will play. Hope he has a good game. Bosa will play, after missing almost ALL the offseason. I might b wrong, but I see a difference. Burns is here n locked n. All off-season.

Sorry guys he wouldn’t play for me. If he is not hurt, the only exception, you don’t practice you don’t play. But, this is the NFL.

No player, no player, is greater than the team.

If they are going to play by today's rules, why don't everyone get a Lombardi Trophy? lol

I agree, if he don't practice, he shouldn't play.  That will hurt his wallet.

Interesting....

I haven't heard anything reliable either way. Maybe I haven't been looking in all the right places. (????)  They only real information I have heard was from Reich. In his last 'announcement', Reich said that Burns had been "looking good". He acknowledged that Burns had "missed" a couple of practices. Nothing further about the situation. Reich also said that he was staying out of it and would not be commenting about any of it.

C'est la vie...
