AS MENTIONED ON ANOTHER THREAD .....

As Ocean Panther mentioned, the NFL has come down with a large fine for David Tepper. Originally, after the game, the league had little to say except "we're aware of the incident..". Today, after reviewing the situation, they imposed a hefty fine on the rather recalcitrant owner. The NFL announced in a league wide press release that David Tepper had been fined $300,000. The league's statement was rather terse and to the point.

In response, Tepper acknowledged the incident and expressed regret for the way he handled the situation.  It remains to be seen if any additional action will be forthcoming from the league.

Here is the response from NBC Sports:

The $300,000 fine imposed on Panthers owner David Tepper is laughable. He’s worth $20.6 billion. The fine equates to 0.00146 percent of his entire net worth.

Putting that in context, it’s the equivalent of fining someone worth $1 million dollars the staggering sum of (checks math again) $14.56.

It’s a joke. It’s a disgrace. It’s the latest sign of the double standard that applies to players and to owners.

The Patriots and Panthers have banned fans from their stadiums who threw drinks. That’s a real punishment. A short-term suspension of the owner would be a real punishment. Dipping into the pockets of one of the richest men in the NFL for the fart-in-the-breeze sum of $300,000 does nothing to truly punish Tepper for acting like a spoiled brat.

The situation underscores the reality the NFL faces, at a time when franchise values are skyrocketing. The only test for joining the club is whether you can afford the team. There’s no requirement to know anything about football. There’s no requirement to be not a jerk.

Think of it this way. For all the anti-social things Daniel Snyder did during his time as an NFL owner, even he didn’t throw a drink on the league’s customers. That’s where Tepper is.

Without a true correction on his conduct, he won’t stop. Maybe, at some point, he’ll do something that forces the league to force him out of Club Oligarch. Until that happens, however, Panthers fans will be stuck with someone who would, under the right (or wrong) circumstances, throw a drink on them and gladly surrender 0.00146 percent of his net worth.

He isn’t an owner. He’s one of these kids who throws a fit when they lose. Almost all of em.somebody’s gotta lose. Every time. Deal

Praying for less owner interference.

It’s a nightmare having him as an owner.

I must state , I AM NOT A TEPPER FAN .. He has not done well at running OUR franchise.

Here's the but.... His fine should not be tied to his wealth any more than you having to pay more for a speeding ticket than I do because you have a lot more money in the bank.
Owners are in their own club of 32. We know this going in. Some owners are good at running a football team,, most aren't.
Owners make their own rules. I mean, it is their club.

Yes and no OP. I agree regardless of his income, age, sex, religious opinions, etc. The fine should be the fine.

And yes the good ole boys owners club but only to a minimum amount, too much riding with all the owners concerning antitrust, special tax implications and even their relationship with the NFLPA… all those things have to manage themselves into the final equation.

With that said, Bud Adams back in 2009 had a $250k fine for an obscene gesture..: based on inflation this fine should have been 350k minimum… imo
