This looks like it's going to be an all Defense draft for us...

Panthers grab another safety in the 5th round with Kenny Robinson

Welcome to Carolina..

Every. Single. Pick. - Defense.

While I understand that, I just hope we are going to be able to protect Teddy Bridgewater this season.

WELCOME...

Another good pick.... I'm really pleased to see picks with so much 'apparent' intelligence. Makes understanding so much easier.

This is an INTERESTING draft selection.

He comes to the NFL draft (and the Panthers..) from W. Va. by way of the XFL... ????  Say WHAT.???

He played two years at W.Va. before getting caught up in an academic "honesty" situation. I'm not aware of all of the details, I haven't done any significant amount of searching yet. He was "removed" from eligibility and subsequently left the university. HERE is where it gets interesting...

The NFL requires a player to be out of high school for at least three (3) years before announcing for the draft. Since Robinson had only two years of college, he wasn't eligible for the NFL draft when he left. Sooo..... He announced for the XFL draft.! He was drafted and apparently played exceptionally well. Then the XFL folded and he became eligible for the NFL draft because enough time had passed to make the three year time requirement. He then announced for the NFL draft and arrived in Panther-land by way of the 5th round selection...!!!  Whew.!!  STRANGE route to the NFL.!!

As far as I can tell, he is the one and only player to make this strange journey into the league.!!

Yeah... I LIKE this guy. I think he makes it and will probably play at Nickel to start along with ST. We have two solid Safeties in Tre Boston and Justin Burris, as well as 3rd rounder Jeremy Chinn. Robinson will probably get a chance to play some S as well, but it might be later in the year. Of course, injuries will always play a big role in that decision.

I hear on the news this morning a clip where he stated he was "the most NFL ready player in the Draft".

We'll see. I hope his character issues are behind him.

He definitely believes in himself. Seems like he made that statement while talking with Panthers reporter in interview immediately after the draft. Or at least he reaffirmed it. What's the new girl's name..??  Kristen..something....

***Say.. whatever happened to Carolyn Cann..??  Is she still around or did Kristen take her place.??***

Robinson's issues at WVA were an "academic issue". He was removed from eligibility... Nothing criminal. At least nothing I've heard about. I suspect it was probably some sort of honor-code violation. Seems most likely.....

Like I said, "Character Issues", (said the West Pointer ;) )  He was charged with cheating.  To me, that is a character issue.  I hope that is behind him.
