Do we draft a qb during this draft, at any time?

I think it's highly possible, but if we do, I'd think it would come as a result of an extra pick gained by trading back at some point in the draft.

The thing about quarterbacks this year is that other than maybe Cam Ward, there aren't a lot of QB's who jump off the page at you.

One guy that has impressed me and will be a mid-round pick is Riley Leonard (Notre Dame QB).  The kid is big (6'4), he's SMART, he can run it in or throw it in, and he is a team player.  He split his NIL money with his teammates.

For whatever reason, they have him listed mid-pack among quarterbacks, but mark my word, this kid is going to be a star with the right team.

What a terrific young man.!!

I am all in on this guy. I would love to see him in Carolina, but even if not, I am pulling for him no matter where he goes. That attitude speaks volumes for his future endeavors.

Quick... Good runner. Deceptively fast. You can watch him run away from the defense.
Reminds me a little of Josh Allen..

Wasn't it the Seattle approach to take a QB in every draft?  Team needs a Dalton replacement before too long.  Either need to find a gem in later rounds or get a young guy from free agency....or raid a practice squad.  Depends on Dave and Dan's eval of the prospects.  My thinking is that this draft needs to be a best player available from beginning to end.

Yeah, I really like the kid, too. I don't know why more people aren't talking about him? And did I mention he has a cannon for an arm?

Pro Football Network is projecting him to be a 5th Round Pick. Huh

I think Canales would be really good for him.  5th round? Jump on it...but doubt he falls there.

As I said I like Leonard. I really do.   However, his draft stock is all over the place. I think this is largely because of the lack of a concerted effort by his "talent managers" (if he has anyone like that..?).

I watch five or six different draft boards, one of which is a "consensus" board. I like that one because it compiles information from multiple boards, mocks, and ... -- They claim they use 87 different Big Boards, 615 1st round Mocks, and 644 team based Mocks.....

Anyway here is some more information on Riley Leonard.

1)  PFN was as listed previously by 007...

2)  BR (Bleacher report) is only showing a top 150 right now. They have one QB listed in the Top 10. Cam Ward @ #6. Then they have Shadeur Sanders @ #16. Then Carson Beck @ #37. Followed by Jalen Milroe @ #42 and Riley Leonard @ #66...... This is an Overall listing of the Top 150 players in the draft.  So that would put him bottom of the 2nd or top of the 3rd (depending on compensatory picks..).

3)  ESPN has a pretty complete "Big Board". They have ten (10) QBs listed in the position rankings. Shadeur Sanders is #1 (by position) and Cam Ward is #2. Overall Sanders is #9 and Cam Ward is #18.  Quinn Ewers is at #60, Carson Beck at 62 and Jason Milroe at 64. Followed by Dillon Gabriel - 119, Jaxson Dart - 180, Kurtis Rourke - 187, Kyle McCord - 197, and Tyler Shough at 199. That's it for the Top 200 players...
-- Riley Leonard is NOT listed...

4)  Draftek has an inclusive Top 500 board. They have 19 QBs listed by position. Cam Ward is the #1 QB and is #5 Overall. Shedeur Sanders is #2 QB and #9 Overall. Quinn Ewers is #4 and #34 Overall. Will Howard (Ohio State) is #6 and #79 Overall. And Riley Leonard is #8 QB and #184 Overall.  That would put him toward the bottom of the 6th round (depending on compensatory picks..)

5)  2025 Consensus Board -- They have Riley Leonard at #8 by position and at #167 Overall. That would put him toward the top of the 5th round.

It looks right now as if Riley Leonard is not a 1st or 2nd rounder for certain. Near as I can tell, Leonard is a really sharp guy. He was accepted into Duke and played there for a couple of years before transferring to Notre Dame.
So, there's that.....

My sleeper QB pick would be Kyle McCord. I actually think he will be be turning heads and starting in this league within 3 yrs. And as a difference maker. In my opinion he has all the tools. Does throw into tight coverage to often, in my opinion, but that can be corrected.

Would love to see us get him in round three.

After watching the Eagles demolish KC last night......I am fine if the Panthers go all D front 7 in the draft.

Just noticed.... After more carefully looking through "The List" posted by LP....

QB Riley Leonard and QB Kyle McCord are BOTH invited to the Combine this year. So, as long as they participate, we should get a little sample of their ball skills and ability to hit certain measurable thresholds.

I wouldn't mind picking up a young backup QB around 5th round somewhere.  (¿Quien sabe?)
