This kid is going to make a name for himself come Sundays. His speed and vision makes me think, "Deangelo Williams".

In the dynamic world of NFL drafts, teams are always on the hunt for the next big talent that can transform their game plan. Among those in the spotlight are the Carolina Panthers, who appear to be seriously contemplating their options in the running back department for the upcoming 2024 NFL draft. It’s not just a rumor mill churning—the Panthers are getting down to business, with a strategic move that involves a closer look at one of the college football’s emerging stars.

The Panthers have their eyes set on a promising running back, marking a significant hint towards their draft intentions. One of the standout prospects catching their attention is Florida State’s Trey Benson, who isn’t just another player on the list but has earned a top-30 visit with the team. This isn’t a casual meet-and-greet; it’s a substantial indication of the Panthers’ interest and a golden opportunity for Benson to showcase his worth.

Benson isn’t new to the accolades that have started to follow him. In both 2022 and 2023, he clinched a spot on the second-team All-ACC, underscoring his consistent performance and the high regard in which he’s held. Such recognitions don’t just fall on your lap—they’re earned through hard work, talent, and a knack for making significant impacts when it matters the most.

Before his illustrious stint at Florida State, Benson honed his skills and built his foundation at the University of Oregon. However, in 2022, he made a pivotal transfer to Florida State, a move that has evidently paid off, giving him the platform to shine on a larger stage. This transition marked the beginning of a chapter where Benson showed what he’s truly made of.

In his 2022 season, shortly after the transfer, Benson hit the ground running—literally. He tallied an impressive 990 yards and 9 touchdowns with 154 carries, a testament to his agility, strength, and vision on the field.

Yet, athletes are challenged not just to meet their past performance but to outdo themselves, and Benson stepped up to the plate. The 2023 season saw him amassing 906 yards and a remarkable 14 touchdowns off 156 carries, alongside showcasing his versatility with 20 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown.

The Carolina Panthers’ interest in Trey Benson is more than just a nod to his past achievements. It’s a forward-looking move by a team keen on infusing their squad with fresh, impactful talent.

Benson’s journey from Oregon to Florida State and now, potentially to the NFL, is a story of growth, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. For the Panthers, bringing in a player of Benson’s caliber could be the jolt they need to up their game in the seasons to come.

Has 4 visits scheduled so far.  Projected as day 2 pick...maybe too high for us?

If he is there with our 2nd pick in round two, I would have zero problem if they pulled the trigger on him.  While we do need at #1 receiver, we really don't have what I would call a #1 back at this point.

I’m a bit of this same mindset.  I feel like we need a better RB as well.  Sanders was a flop, sure our offense sucked, but when given his chances he fell behind the line

And Chuba is okay in bits and pieces, but he's not an every down back.

Wow, that “top 30” is very misleading. Not a top thirty player just one of 30 we can bring in.

While I like Benson I feel almost positive he will be there in the third round and possibly even come round 4. Too many high skill needs to spend either second round pick on him…of course just my opinion

I don't know...

I can't believe the Panthers would take this guy ANYWHERE in the 30's.  He's a 3rd rounder (probably). Maybe the very bottom of the 2nd.  Anything above #50 is a real reach, (AFAIAC)...  NFL.COM (Daniel Jeremiah) doesn't list him - TOP 50.

TANKATHON = #66 OA --- #2 RB

ESPN = #57 OA --- #2 RB

PFF = #86 OA

Definitely a 3rd round talent in a BPA environment. (IMO) --  Of course, there is no accounting for "wants" or "needs" ...
Who knows -- Huh

I am a big fan of Benson. Power back with sub 4.4 speed and nice hands…he is a complete player. I have seen some mocks having him available in round 3 and that would be a steal IMO.

I agree 100%.  He is going to be a stud.

AGREED -- I believe that he will come off the board in the 3rd round. He's NOT the best RB in the draft, there is one or two in front of him. So, it all depends on how RBs are perceived as "value" this year. I just know that I don't want him anywhere the top of the 2nd. If Dan thinks we need another RB come the 3rd round, so be it. I'm not against it.....  I would rather see us pick up the NC State LB though. (Payton Wilson)
