As we've all heard, the Giants have 'released' Daniel Jones. Because he's not a vested veteran, he will have to pass through the waiver system. Jones' current contract owes him about 13.8 Mil GUARANTEED. The Giants are on the hook for that contract - UNLESS another team picks him up off of waivers. The general consensus is that Jones will definitely clear waivers on Monday afternoon. With his release, the existing contract will become a "dead cap" hit for the Giants -- AND Jones will be free to sign with any other team he chooses. The question then is ... Which team would sign him (probably a short-term "try-it" deal..). Would ANY team be interested maybe as a backup or possibly a "bridge" QB or a veteran presence..???
Keeping in mind that Jones ia a DUKE alumnus and has significant ties in the area. AND Jones had a fairly productive few years early on. AND Jones has been severely handicapped by the Giants struggles in the last couple of years.....
Would (SHOULD) the Panthers possibly add him as a bridge, backup, or potential replacement for Dalton who is aging out.???
Thoughts.???
