What the Gilmore trade means

It's the first thing I thought, and after listening to quite a few of the talking heads, it's what the Panthers think. 

For the team to trade for Gilmore (other than it being such a cheap trade for that quality of a player), it means the Panthers are serious about winning NOW rather than later.  It isn't by accident that Matt Rhule came in and drafted all Defensive players in his first season as head coach.

They say Defense wins Championships, and even though it was ugly (some games are), we only lost by one score to Dallas.   All in all, our Offense gave the team enough to have won the game if our Defense had been able to stop Dallas' Offense.
