Capers as senior defensive assistant, McCown as QB Coach, One solid hire. One questionable, but intriguing.

I’m personally liking both those hires. Have always had the upmost respect for Capers and his defensive knowledge and work ethic. And McCown is a name that has been mentioned a lot over the past couple years , even interviewed for the Texans head coaching last year.
There is also zero doubt that we will be in base 3-4 defense.
Scotty Montgomery next?
I am getting excited about our future.

Preview our front 7 in a 3-4 first. We missing peiceses, just like last year, but Luvu n Shaq are the only bets at lb. Maybe burns. What happens? Not doubting, but want explanation first. Where’s the dl other than Db? We’d need 5/6 more guys just dl n lb. MHO
I think Capers is a great addition to assist Evero building a greater defense than we currently have. Not sure about McCown; he was a serviceable backup, and in all reality could serve as an "off the roster veteran quarterback" for our "upcoming" (expected) Draftee Quarterback this draft. Not mad about either hire. And, for McCown and Capers both, they are familiar with the team and with the area.

No doubt there will be roster moves. But right now Burns, Barno, Gross-Matos, Haynes would be considered “LB”. Most of the time it is really more like a 5-2 than a 4-3. I think the key to success and of course my biggest concern would be Derrick Brown. He is not the atypical nose tackle which you need in a 3-4… so I see him moving to what would be called a DE in the 3-4 scheme. I hope that makes sense.
Yeah, it does. I think of YGM as a de. Even in 3-4.

Hs not been big or strong enough yet at any position.
Here is a good quote I found on Gross Matos from draft:
Gross-Matos appears best suited to play defensive end in a 4-3 scheme. But some teams will consider moving Gross-Matos to outside linebacker, much like Green Bay did with Rashan Gary last year.
I thank one person who has to be excited is Barno, with his speed he fits perfect to the 3-4 scheme provided he can play the run.

That's what I was saying about Barno when we drafted him. Then I wondered why we never heard his name called.
