Darnold is playing like he owns the game. Rams broke thru for four sacks but Darnold wasn’t scared. Throwing the ball into tight windows with lots of zip.

These last playoff games are always tough, but the Hawks look like winners right now. The Patriots are going to have tough sledding against this team.
Final: 31-27 Seahawks

Seems like I remember doing something like this last year. There weren't quite as many openings last year though. So -- THIS year there are currently nine (9), count 'em, nine HC openings so far. And the season is not over. Interviews are just now starting for the teams that are not currently involved in the playoffs. Coaches of teams that played last week can do video interviews and live interviews can start tomorrow (I think..??).

Anyway here is a list (currently) of the teams that will be on the hunt for a HC.

ARIZONA CARDINALS -- Fired HC Jonathon Gannon (3 years - 15-36 W-L record (reg. season))

ATLANTA FALCONS -- Fired HC Raheem Morris (2 years - 16-18 W-L record (reg. season))

BALTIMORE RAVENS -- Fired HC John Harbaugh (18 years - 180-113 W-L record (reg. season) 13-11 W-L (playoffs) - 1 Super Bowl)

CLEVELAND BROWNS -- Fired HC Kevin Stefanski (6 years - 45-56 W-L record (reg. season) 1-2 W-L (playoffs))

LAS VEGAS RAIDERS -- Fired HC Pete Carroll (1 year - 3-14 W-L record (reg. season))

MIAMI DOLPHINS -- Fired HC Mike McDaniel (4 years - 35-33 W-L record (reg. season) 0-2 W-L (playoffs))

NY GIANTS -- Fired HC Brian Daboll (Mid-season - 3 1/2 years - 20-40-1 W-L record (reg.season) 1-1 W-L (playoffs))

PITTSBURGH STEELERS -- HC Mike Tomlin resigned (19 years - 193-114-2 W-L record (reg. season) 8-12 W-L (playoffs) - 1 Super Bowl)

TENNESSEE TITANS -- Fired HC Brian Callahan (Mid-season - 1 1/2 years - 4-19 W-L record (reg.season))

There are several HCs here that are surprising and a couple of them are VERY surprising. Both John Harbaugh and Mike Tomlin are shocking. Harbaugh was fired and Tomlin QUIT. In addition, Pete Carroll surprised me because he wasn't really given a chance. He was like a sacrificial lamb. Strange.... Raheem Morris (Falcons) surprised me as well. Only two years and the Falcons had started to 'jell'. They looked pretty decent the last half of the year.

So what are you thinking about these HCs. Who gets another chance in 2026 ..... and where.?? Who are the rest of these teams going to hire...?? New, untested HCs..??

I'm sure we've all heard (or are at least aware) of the trouble rolling down hill onto Stephon Diggs. He has been accused, arrested, charged, etc., etc., by a woman who supposedly worked for him. Stephon plays for the Patriots and is due in court around the time the Patriots will play for the AFC Championship (IF - they make it that far..).

Now - Breaking News - A second Diggs brother (Trevon) has been released (waived) by the Cowboys. Trevon Diggs is a 6-year veteran and a "star" CB. ---- IMHO, I believe his 'star' is falling. He was a twice selected Pro-Bowl CB but has not delivered over the past three years. In fact he has played in only 19 of 47 games since he signed his extension in 2023.

After 24 hours on the waiver wire, Trevon will be a Free Agent. I seriously doubt that any team will pick up his current contract -- although there is (apparently) no "guaranteed money" left on the contract, so anything is possible. The real question is... Does any team want to sign this guy..???

Another real question is.... Does anyone really care..???

After LP mentioned it, it struck me as a bit of a strange year. There's always some drama around the draft and the rookies and agents trying to insert themselves into things in an attempt to make a "name" for themselves. But this year it seems like there is an inordinate amount of 'stuff' coming up that is not usually part of the conversation.

So, lets mention a few things that seem to be raising their ugly heads this year.

Contract Disputes; Contract Disputes; Contract Disputes .....

Players who think they're indispensable and "deserve" being treated "special". It's another way to say "entitled". They're SO special that their crap doesn't stink. AND agents are promoting this self-serving behavior even though contract terms for rookies (draftees..), money, language, etc., is written for everyone equally in the negotiated contract between the NFLPA and the NFL.

Holdouts are part of "contract disputes" (usually..). This year there are some "notable" holdouts for various reasons...

Rookies (draftees) wanting "GUARANTEED MONEY". YES, you heard that right -- having never played a snap of NFL professional football.

Other draftees wanting 'special' language in their contract .... even though they are unproven and have NEVER played NFL football.

Agents drawing "a line in the sand" and trying to hold up a whole group of draftees from signing their contracts as an expression of "power". Playing "Hardball" with owners and teams over 'special considerations'.

So far this year, there are forty (40) rookie draftees that are unsigned. Of these, four (4) are 1st round selections. There are six (6) unsigned 4th round selections. There are no 3rd rounders left unsigned. BUT -- there are thirty (30) 2nd round selections who thus far have refused to sign their rookie contracts. In the first round, there is #2 Travis Hunter (Jaguars) - no one seems to know why. ??? There is #17 Shemar Stewart (Bengals) - There is a LOT of crap being thrown about by the agent about this one. There is #20 Jahdae Barron (Broncos) - Unknown ??? There is #30 Maxwell Hairston (Bills) - Unknown ???

Of the six 4th rounders... There are #103 Chimera Dike (Titans); #104 Bhayshul Tuten (Jaguars); #105 Cam Skattebo (Giants); #106 Craig Woodsen (Patriots); #107 Jack Kiser (Jaguars); #109 Deone Walker (Bills); #113 C.J. West (49ers). I know there are seven (7) listed here, one or more of them have potentially signed.

That leaves thirty (30) more rookie draftees unsigned. These are ALL 2nd rounders, to include the Panthers Nic Scourton. The easiest way is to mention that only TWO (2) 2nd round selections have signed. Those are Jayden Higgins (Texans), and Carsen Schwessinger (Browns) at the top of the 2nd (#33, #34). These were (apparently) "fully guaranteed" contracts. As you can imagine, this started a landslide of "ME TOO" contract demands by the agents who decided to pounce on the opportunity --- and ALL of the rest of the 2nd round remains unsigned...

There are more stories to be told as well. I'll probably add some more, but you guys jump in here too. All the weird and unusual stuff showing up this year. This is the place for it...
