The latest Panther to re-sign was WR Dan Chisena. Chisena spent most of his time here on the Practice Squad. He was added to the 53 late in the year. Mostly Special Teams and a backup piece for the WR room.

So the list of returning Panthers now looks like this...

JJ Jantzen
Andy Dalton
Cade Mays
LeBryan Ray
Austin Corbett
Tommy Tremble
Jaycee Horn  (Well....Jaycee Horn wasn't technically a Free Agent..)
Mike Jackson
Dan Chisena

The Panthers parted ways with veteran running back Miles Sanders on Tuesday in advance of the start of the new league year.

In two seasons here, Sanders had 184 carries for 637 yards and three touchdowns, along with 51 catches for 302 yards and a touchdown.

Anyone know the cap savings?  Assuming we will get a RB in the draft.

The Panthers were interested in keeping the 27-year-old Sanders at a reduced salary, which is what nose tackle Shy Tuttle agreed to in order to stay with the team. But Sanders chose to become a free agent after two disappointing years in Charlotte, where his two biggest supporters — Frank Reich and running backs coach Duce Staley — were fired 11 games into their first season.

Hmm... So, the Cowboys get Sanders. I believe that we could have kept him and made use of him. He had the ability and proved it. I'm not certain "why" but it seemed as if Dave just wasn't able to wrap his mind around Sanders and the possibilities.
Maybe it was mostly money as the article hinted...
Huh

Fit paid too much money for the poor production we got out of him. He came to life a little the last game (or 2?) of the season.  It was not enough to justify his salary.  Word is he refused a pay cut.   Easy to replace.  I like the guy we picked up from Dallas.  Just could not count on Sanders.

Wait until you see RB Rico Dowdle.  ;)  He'll make you forget about Sanders.  (yeah, I said it lol)

Wouldn't take much for me. Don't know what's wrong with Jerry.  Excited about Dowdle.  We were wearing Chuba out!

I watched him all thru his time at South Carolina.  He is fast, he's shifty, he's patient, and he has an extra gear when he hits the hole.  He has great hands and knows how to get open for his quarterback.  I hate to say "Almost like CMC", but you watch and tell me.  And he has gotten MUCH BETTER since coming into the NFL.  He's every bit as good as Chuba is.  Together they are going to be a nightmare for opposing defenses.

Here are his 2024 Highlights with Dallas.  His YAC are ridiculous.

UPDATE....

There's been another signing, or "agreed to terms" contract. As FA has moved forward, the Panthers are signing some of the players who "tested" Free Agency. The latest panther to return to the fold is S Nick Scott. So that makes ten Panthers Free Agents who have signed or have "Agreed To Terms".

JJ Jantzen
Andy Dalton
Cade Mays
LeBryan Ray
Austin Corbett
Tommy Tremble
Jaycee Horn  (Well....Jaycee Horn wasn't technically a Free Agent..)
Mike Jackson
Dan Chisena
Nick Scott

So, that means the Panthers now have another Safety on the training camp roster.

I'm glad we are at least keeping some of the pieces in place from last season.  You can't buy that kind of business.  Even if the guy(s) do not ever hit the field, they know the system, they can help other players who are not familiar with this system.  They can also encourage them on the heat of the Carolina Summers Big Grin
