Started thinking about some conundrums recently, and how they sometimes appear to be a little 'mixed up' or 'backwards'. Words in common usage whose definition seems strange considering the word itself. Strange situations where conventional usage seems like it should be wrong.... maybe someone made a mistake.?
So many different possibilities.!!!
*** If "The early bird gets the worm", why do "Good things come to those who wait.?"
*** Have you ever considered that the fork you use in a restaurant has probably been in thousands of other people's mouths??
*** Why do you never see baby pigeons??
*** If a male sheep is called a 'ram', why is a 'ram in the butt' called a goose??
*** What do we call 'sunshine' when it's cloudy?? Does it even exist when it's cloudy??
*** If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it ... Does it make a noise??
