They take turns sitting on the nest...constantly.  I agree about the concerns with the cold temps....but like babies eggs come when they come based on when they mated.  The official nest watchers seems to think it could be any day.  Putting the final touched on the nest....like preparing that bowl, also a sign.

Yeah, I was just kidding about them waiting, but still it's a real danger when the weather is SO cold. I know they sit on the nest continuously, but still..... Can you imagine sitting anywhere in these temperatures.??  My outdoor weather center showed overnight temps last night at 12 degrees when i looked around 4:00 AM. Could have been colder than that. I KNOW things freeze at those temperatures. I've had eggs freeze in my refrigerator when the temps got just a little too cold. Eggs freeze quick.!!  I can't imagine those poor birds sitting on that nest all night at that elevation. It MUST be colder up there than it is down here.!!  

As a point of interest, I read an article year before last about some ducks that froze in-flight and crashed into the ground somewhere in Nebraska i think. Of course, no telling about the temps and altitude, but.... 

Anyway, I sure hope they do well and this cold snap doesn't harm them or the nestlings...

Sort of what I expected. Cold injury is very real. I did NOT realize that optimum temps were that high (99 degrees is really sort of HOT..). Don't think we need to worry about the eggs getting too warm..!! 
Below 29 degrees and the embryos die. So, lets hope they don't lay any eggs right now.!! I am worried about mom and dad too, but the eggs are primary. I can't see them keeping those eggs warm enough during this cold snap.  Maybe the temps will warm up in the next day or two...

She laid 1 egg yesterday. Eggs are laid about 3 days apart.

I am worried about our friends. Nothing going on with the chat. The next few days are going to be critical...Lots of snow and C O L D.....

Watched them this morning as the snow was coming down over there. Who ever was on the nest had a good bit of snow on them but they were valiantly making a nice tight warm incubator for their precious eggs. Adult eagles have amazing insulation.  Things looked miserable but they were up to the task and knew just what to do.

Mother nature can scare you to death sometimes!

i think we are 8 days form "pip watch",,,when the fist egg could start to hatch.  Takes a while.  That is an exhausting process for the little eaglet. 

I am worried about our friends. Nothing going on with the chat. The next few days are going to be critical...Lots of snow and C O L D.....

Why can't they be more like Wood Ducks.?? Live and build nests in boxes out of the weather.!!
