TO BE FAIR...

The "tie-breaker" rules are more complex than the relatively simple process I outlined up there ^^^.  After the strength of schedule calculations and Division, Conference, and Inter-conference tie-breakers, there are multiple levels of possibilities. Some of the possibilities include: a head-to-head calculation which may or may not be applicable (a lot of teams don't play each other..); Best W-L-T percentage in common games (minimum of 4 games); Strength of victory in ALL games; Combined ranking of all teams by "points scored" and "points allowed" in ALL games; Best net points in ALL games; Best net touchdowns in ALL games; and finally ... A Coin Toss.

It is an amazingly complex situation and requires a lot of thinking, study and review of records and games and box scores, mathematical computations and folks spending a lot of time doing research. AND --- ALL of it has to wait until after the last games are played in the final week of the season. The 14 playoff teams are the easy part... They are positioned in order as they are eliminated.

I NOW understand why the NFL doesn't announce the Draft order until much later..... They have to hire more researchers and data-entry folks and buy newer, faster computers...

Surely, there is a simpler method..???
