PANTHERS vs. THE NFL -- THE REST OF THE STORY. ??

I am SO SICK of hearing everyone bad-mouthing the Panthers.

So, how bad are the Panthers.??  Well, we're not good, that's for certain. However, everything considered, the Panthers have done sort of OK in their first 25-30 years.... I mean sometimes they've done okay. Think about it like this. 

The Panthers have been to the Playoffs eight (8) times. We are 3-1 in the "Wildcard" round. We are 4-3 in the "Divisional" round. We are 2-2 in the "Conference Championship" games. We are 0-2 in the "Super Bowl".  OVERALL -- We are 9-8 (17 games) in the playoffs. --- That's a winning record in the playoffs..!!

Now, in the last seven years we haven't done much. But that doesn't mean you can discount everything prior.!!  It's true, we have never WON a Super Bowl. But, there are twelve (12) teams that have never won a Super Bowl.!! In fact.... There are four teams that have never been to a Super Bowl.!!  We haven't won one yet, but we've been there TWICE.!! 

OKAY --- Enough reminiscing. Here is a recent 'expose' on all of the NFL teams and how they have fared over the past 25 years.

This is the kind of thing that really irritates me. Someone has just scanned team records and broadcasts a statement about "BAD" teams. No context. No Playoff history. NO consideration for notable WINS. No consideration for relative "age" of the teams.  The Panthers are NOT at the bottom of this list (we're #8 up from the bottom). But the whole premise of discounting a team and broadcasting how 'terrible' they are based on ONE stat line..... SURE, wins are important, so why not concentrate on the "winningest" team, etc...???  Instead of how terrible the 'losing' teams are.??

What does this mean? What does it prove.???

Absolutely nothing...

I have always felt as if the Panthers were discounted.  We are a "small market" team and the media not going to spend their energy here. They write about the Panthers off of headlines and in reality know very little about the team and are not going to bother to find out. They just don't care.  Dave and Dan can go about quietly and methodically building  team.  Get those dawgs.  Being underdogs just motivation.  Play for each other and the fans,,,the hell with everyone else.
