Interesting statement by Tillis:

Brandt Tilis didn’t offer up any new nuggets on if or when the Carolina Panthers could offer a contract extension to quarterback Bryce Young.

But Tilis, the team’s executive VP of football operations, was pleased with his evaluation of Young last summer, when he called the No. 1 pick from 2023 “an ascending player.”

“Nothing’s changed. I got the eval right. He was ascending. So, nailed that. I was happy about that,” Tilis said with a little smile Tuesday during a Zoom with reporters.

“But we haven’t had any discussions with his agent about a contract. And any that we would have, we would just keep internal anyway. It’s still the same. Still evaluating and just curious to see where it all goes and very excited about Bryce and all that he brings to us.”

Just my wild guess...if the right QB falls to the Panthers they might just look to add more competition to the room.

Interesting statement, Indeed...

I think you mentioned it here previously (???) but I would not be at all surprised to see the Panthers draft another QB to go along with Kenny Pickett.  I haven't really 'followed' Pickett since he was drafted, although it seems like he did OK early on - IIRC. He may turn out to be something like Sam Darnold. I'd like to see us draft Cole Payton (ND State). Other than the fact that he's a lefty, I think he has "the right stuff". Would be interesting, especially because we still have a ?? at OT on the "blind side". Might put more pressure on T-Mo, but I'd trust him more than Icky when/if he gets back.  Plus it would give us another reason to (maybe) draft another OT..???

I was fairly impressed with Kenny Pickett before he was drafted. As stated above, I never really followed him after he was drafted, though. But, looking back on his highlights since then, he does have a very strong arm and it looks like his throws are pretty accurate. Bryce can throw a long ball, but to me, at least, it looks like he is giving it all he's got when he does that. It's like I worry about him separating his shoulder when he goes downfield. On the videos I've seen from Kenny, it seems like little effort at all to put the ball downfield. Just saying. Not crowning Kenny, nor am I putting Bryce down, just stating what I've observed.
