Well, here we are again facing the Falcons in a Divisional game with some implications. Last time, two weeks back, the Panthers were 4.5 point underdogs. This week the spread has changed a little. The early line has the Falcons favored, yes. But the spread has closed up tighter. The line this week opened at 2 points. The Panthers +2 is sort of the average number across three different sports books. It varies a little depending on where you look from +1.5 to +3, but still closer than the first meeting.
The Falcons are coming off of a home loss to the Chargers (20-17)..... and they hold a VERY significant advantage against the Panthers lifetime both at home and on the road. So, the spread seems realistic, if a little understated. Judging by the way we played against them two weeks ago, the spread looks right. Judging by the way WE played last week against the Bengals, the spread ought to be closer to 10 points. The Over/Under has moved up some as well to around 43.5 .... depending on which book you like. I like the O/U number. It won't turn out to be 60-70 like the last two weeks have been (I don't think..??). It should be another tight game against the Falcons, and because it's at BofA, we SHOULD play better. We could win this game. Several weeks back, I mentioned that I thought we would win ONE game against the Falcons. Well, this is the last opportunity......
Mariota is a mobile QB. And he has proven himself to be capable, although not imminently successful. I like him as a QB and as a person. I hate that we're gonna have to stomp all over him..!!!
